What
can you expect from a Chemical
Peel?
You
can expect your skin to appear
and feel smoother, softer, and
have more of an even tone with
each peel treatment. Your skin
care/make-up products will be
absorbed deeper into your skin
and your collagen will be
stimulated. You will need to
establish an appropriate home
care regimen using approved high
quality products, adequate water
intake and nutritious foods so
that your skin will regenerate as
optimally as possible.
DO
NOT use any exfoliating products
until at least 3 weeks after your
final chemical peel treatment,
making sure that your skin has
completely healed.
DO
NOT get injections, such as
Collagen or Botox, for at least
14 days after your final chemical
peel treatment.
Wait
at least 14 days to wax.
DO
NOT pick or peel off any dead
skin or flaking! Picking or
peeling could cause scarring,
which can be permanent!
When
recommended to do so with the
chemical peel service you
receive, cleanse with a
moisturizing cleanser nightly
using cool water, gently pat your
skin dry, DO NOT RUB, then apply
a targeted serum (if recommended)
and a high quality moisturizer.
In
the am, rinse with cool water and
apply a high quality moisturizer,
wait 5 minutes, then apply a high
quality sunblock.
Use
high quality, nutrient dense
cleansing and moisturizing
products for the best results.
Always use a high quality,
non-nano sunblock as your skin
will be very vulnerable to sun
damage. If you do not use a high
quality sunblock every day, it is
highly probable that your skin
will become hyper-pigmented.
There
is a difference between a
sunscreen and a sunblock. A
sunblock is a barrier that does
not penetrate your skin, is
non-toxic, blocks UVA, UVB and
UVC rays, and provides anti-aging
benefits. A sunblock may make
your skin appear white if not
rubbed into skin gently but
thoroughly. Reapply sunblock
frequently and after exposure to
water or sweat. A sunblock may be
applied OVER your moisturizer
and/or treatment products so that
those products have optimal
effect.
Here is
what you can expect after your
Chemical Peel with the Optimal
Conditions discussed above
DAY
1-2 You may experience redness,
white residue, tightness, warmth,
dryness or flaking which
is normal. Your peel is still
successful even if you do not
experience these conditions.
DAY
3-4 Your skin may become tighter
and drier and sloughing will
begin. The sloughing may be
barely noticeable if a light peel
was used. If you had a
Jessners or TCA Peel, your
skin may turn brown and feel very
tight. The amount of
discoloration and peeling is
directly related to the number of
layers applied to your skin and
how sensitive your skin is to the
chemical peel products.
DAY
5-7 Sloughing will subside and
new skin will begin to form. Your
skin may be very pink at first,
but this will gradually fade over
the following weeks.
TWO
to FOUR WEEKS LATER Have your
next chemical peel treatment as
discussed in your chemical peel
treatment plan.
